About the Facebook Fellowship Program 2021 2022
This is another year for the amazing Facebook Fellowship Program for innovative PhD students around the world. The Facebook Fellowship Program is a global award initiated by Facebook to encourage and support outstanding PhD students around the world who are engaged innovative and relevant research in areas that are related to the following fields: computer science and engineering and at an accredited university. The fellowship will support these outstanding and innovative students with tuition cover, living allowance and other benefits
Who is this program for?
The Facebook Fellowship Program is open to all PhD students around the world in any stage of their candidature. Meaning both prospective students and already enrolled students are all encouraged to apply. The Facebook Fellowship Program is also open to a diverse range of people from different backgrounds, experience, gender and nationality. Minority groups are highly encouraged to apply!
Facebook Fellowship Program Benefits and Overview
- Full Tuition and fees cover for up to two years or 4 semesters
- Living cost support: A $42,000 annual stipend to cover living and conference travel costs
- Degree Program: PhD
- Nationality: Citizens from all countries are eligible to apply
- Study Location/University: Students must be enrolled in accredited Universities
- Application opens: 3 August, 2021
- Application closes: 20 September, 2021

Eligibility Criteria for the Facebook Fellowship Program
Below are some criteria expected from interesting applicants for the Facebook Fellowship Program 2021-2022:
- Interested applicants must be full-time PhD students and should be enrolled in an accredited university (in any country) by the start of the Fellowship (i.e., Fall 2021)
- The interested applicant must be involved in an ongoing research related to one or more relevant disciplines named above.
Some conditions for eligibility criteria:
- As a condition the recipient of this fellowship must remain enrolled full-time for the duration of the Fellowship to receive program benefits
- Students with other Facebook funded programs should not apply for this scholarship. You are encourage to email academicrelations@fb.com if in any doubt.
Documentation and application procedures
The fellowship application must be accompanied with the following documents:
- 500-word research summary that clearly identifies: the area of focus, importance to the field, and applicability to Facebook of the anticipated research during the award. See the available research areas or related disciplines mentioned above
- Two letters of recommendation, including one from an academic advisor. You will be asked to provide your references’ contact information, and they will receive a corresponding form to submit their letters.
