Monash International Merit Scholarship 2025

This prestigious scholarship opportunity is being offered by Monash University to attract high-achieving international students to pursue undergraduate studies at one of Australia's top-ranked institutions.

The Monash International Merit Scholarship, also known as the Sir John Monash Scholarship for Excellence, provides financial assistance and access to a leadership program for exceptional international students who have received a full Monash course offer.

 Scholarship Overview

• Scholarship type: Partial funding toward tuition fees

• Stipend value: AUD $10,000 per year (for 48 credit points of study)

• Total scholarship value: Up to AUD $50,000 (depending on course duration)

• Other supports: Invitation to apply for the Monash Minds Leadership Program (for first-year students)

• Study Level: Undergraduate

• Study Course: Open to all undergraduate study areas (except Medicine and related programs – see exclusions)

• Citizen type: International students

• Number of positions: 31 offered per year

• Duration: Until the minimum number of credit points for the student’s undergraduate degree is completed

• Deadline: Automatic consideration upon receiving full Monash course offer; scholarship can be deferred within the same calendar year

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

• Be international students (citizens of any country other than Australia)

• Have received a full, unconditional offer for an undergraduate course at Monash University

• Intend to enrol full-time in an eligible undergraduate program at a Monash campus in Australia

Ineligibility:
You are not eligible if you are:

• A current Monash student

• Studying an Australian Year 12 (you may instead qualify for the Sir John Monash Scholarship for Excellence)

• Commencing in either:

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours), or

• Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Selection Criteria 

Selection will be based on academic merit, including:

• Results from previous academic programs (e.g., high school transcripts or equivalent qualifications)

• Potential to contribute to Monash University through academic and extracurricular achievements

To retain the scholarship, recipients must:

• Maintain a distinction average (70% or above) each semester

• Provide a student profile for use in relevant Monash marketing and recruitment activities

How to Apply

• No application is required. Eligible international students who have received a full course offer for undergraduate study at Monash will be automatically considered.

• Scholarship can be deferred within the same calendar year of offer.
