About Australia's Awards Scholarships(AAS) for Philippines 2022-2023
This is a great scholarship opportunity for international students in the
Philippines intending to study in Australia.
The Australia Awards scholarship program is a country-specific scholarship
program targeting citizens from some particular countries all over the world.
The awards target developing countries, particularly those countries located
in the Indo-Pacific region, to undertake full-time undergraduate or
postgraduate study at participating Australian institutions. The eligible
countries include some countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East
for either long duration or short fully funded courses.

The Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international awards offered
by the Government of Australia to the future generation of global
leaders. AAS is administered under the Australian Government’s Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade. The main goal of this award program is to be able
to provide through study, the skills and knowledge needed by this next
generation of global leaders so as to drive change and help build enduring
people-to-people links with Australia.

So how are these scholarships offered and what are the desired fields of
study?
For the Australia Awards scholarships in the Philippines 2022,
applicants are assessed based on their professional and personal qualities,
academic competence and, most importantly, their potential to impact development challenges in the Philippines. These are the criteria used to
offer these scholarships. Applications are also highly encouraged from women,
people with disability and other marginalised groups.
The priority area of study must be aligned with the country's government
priority sectors of interest. These priority study areas in the Philippines for
the 2021 Australia Awards include :
- Public Health and Social Protection
- Trade and Economics
- Infrastructure and Smart Cities
- Digital Economy and Cyber Security
- Peace and Development
- Education
- Governance and Public Policy, including Civil Society
- Media and Foreign Relations
- Natural Resource Management, including Mining and Energy
- Humanitarian and Disaster Risk Management
Australia Awards scholarship benefits and Value
The scholarships are generally awarded for the minimum period of time the
applicants are expected to complete their studies in Australia and return home. Benefits and overview include :

full tuition fees cover
- return airfares
- a one-off establishment allowance on arrival
- overseas student health cover for the duration of the
- scholarship
- contribution to living expenses
- supplementary academic support

fieldwork allowance for research students and masters by coursework which
has a compulsory fieldwork component

Scholarships will be offered for commencement in January and June 2023 within the following categories:

Open - for individuals who intend to pursue graduate studies in the
identified priority areas of study mentioned above

Targeted - for partner Philippine government agencies with mandates that
support mutual priorities of Australia and the Philippines as reflected
in Australia’s Covid-19 Development Response Plan for the Philippines
and the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022. The proposed scholars for
these awards are nominated by their respective agencies
Eligibility Criteria for the Australia Awards Philippines 2022-2023
Applicants applying for these scholarships in the Philippines are expected to meet the general eligibility and the country-specific eligibility.

For Country-specific eligibility criteria, below are the requirements
for Philippines students wishing to apply for this scholarship:
In addition to the eligibility requirements as mentioned in the
policy handbook, candidates from the Philippines must also meet the following
conditions:
- be residing in the Philippines for at least the last 12 months
- have at least two years of cumulative work experience
- not hold another scholarship
- be a holder of a masters degree (for PhD applicants)
The application process for the Australia Awards Philippines 2021 2022
The whole application process takes place online. It is recommended that you
check to see and make sure to meet the eligibility criteria be starting your

Eligible applicants are expected to submit a Re-Entry Action Plan
(REAP)
as part of the application process and implement this in their workplace or
proposed area upon return. This REAP outlines a project where the newly
acquired knowledge and skills will be used to contribute to development in
the Philippines. Note that REAP implementation is closely monitored and
evaluated.

Applicants must submit their application together with all the relevant
supporting documents listed on the Australia Awards Philippines website,
including:
- Curriculum Vitae (online)
- Affidavit of citizenship, residency and employment
- Certification of the Grade Point Average/General
- Weighted Average
The selection process
-Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will have their applications
assessed and shortlisted.
-These shortlisted applicants will then be invited for an interview,
which will include a writing exercise. -The short-listed Applicants will be
assessed against the following criteria:
- academic competence
- the potential outcome, specifically the contribution to development outcomes
in the Philippines through the proposed Re-Entry Action Plan (REAP)

professional and personal leadership attributes including relevant
work experience.
What next after you are selected?
Successful applicants will be required to attend:
- course counselling
- pre-departure briefing
- university’s Introductory Academic Program
- other required preparatory study on arrival in Australia.
