Scholarship overview
- Fellowship Type: Fully funded postdoctoral fellowship
- Salary: Level A Step 8 ($108,362 AUD in 2025) + 17% superannuation
- Accommodation Allowance: $25,116 AUD per annum (2025, taxable)
- Research and Travel Allowance: One-time $12,000 AUD for approved research expenses, conference travel, or international collaboration
- Relocation Allowance: Available for interstate and international fellows, including one-way airfare to Perth
- Institutional Affiliation: Any of the five participating Western Australian universities:
- Curtin University
- Edith Cowan University
- Murdoch University
- The University of Notre Dame (Fremantle)
- The University of Western Australia
- Citizen Type: Domestic and International
- Duration: 3 years
- Number of Fellowships: Limited – highly competitive
- Deadline: 30 June 2025
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this fellowship, applicants must:
- Be in the final year of their PhD or have completed their PhD after 1 January 2023
- Have successfully completed all PhD requirements by 31 December 2025
- Have a track record of academic excellence and innovation
- Be seeking to carry out postdoctoral research in any discipline at a Western Australian university
- Be willing to contribute to the Forrest Research Foundation community through mentorship, leadership, and outreach
Eligible Countries: Open to applicants of all nationalities
Eligible Fields: Open to all fields of study
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be selected based on the following merit-based criteria:
- Academic excellence during undergraduate and postgraduate studies
- Quality, originality, and impact of doctoral research
- Research experience and collaborations across institutions
- Future research vision and interdisciplinary potential
- Contributions to the broader community and leadership potential
- Strong academic and professional references
