QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic) 2025-2026
The QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic) is the premier undergraduate scholarship opportunity offered by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to attract and support exceptional academic performers into their first year of university studies.This highly competitive award is available to domestic and international students who have completed Year 12 in Australia and are commencing their first undergraduate degree at QUT in 2026. These scholarships recognize students with outstanding academic achievement and a demonstrated potential for leadership, research, and academic success.
Scholarship Overview

Scholarship type: Merit-based academic scholarship

Stipend value:

Up to $30,000 total (paid in installments of $5,000 per semester for three years)

Or $10,000 total (paid as $2,500 per semester for the first four semesters)

Automatic membership to QUT’s College of Excellence

Early access to research opportunities

Special STEM quota: At least 50% of STEM scholarships awarded to eligible female students

Top-performing students in Science/Engineering may join the Dean’s Scholars Program

Study Course: Open to all study areas

Citizen type: Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, New Zealand citizens, and international students who completed Year 12 in Australia

Number of positions: Approximately 130 annually

Duration: 3 years (depending on scholarship value and academic performance)

Deadline: No separate deadline – assessed automatically with QTAC applications in December 2025 and January 2026
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

Be graduating Year 12 in 2025, or have graduated in 2024
-
Be commencing university for the first time in 2026
-
Not have previously enrolled in tertiary education (except through special programs like START QUT)
-
Apply for a QUT course through QTAC and list QUT as first preference
-
Achieve a minimum ATAR or selection rank of 98.00 (unadjusted) or equivalent in the IB Diploma
-
Be one of the following:
-
Australian citizen or Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
-
Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand citizen
-
International student who completed Year 12 in Australia
Selection Criteria
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on:

High academic merit (ATAR 98+ or equivalent)

Balance of offers across faculties to ensure disciplinary representation
-
Demonstrated potential to contribute to the QUT student community through:

Academic distinction
-
Leadership qualities
-
Community or school contributions
-
Alignment with QUT’s vision for excellence in research, innovation, and leadership

How to Apply
You do not need to complete a separate scholarship application for the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic).
To be considered:

Apply for your preferred undergraduate program at QUT via QTAC
-
Ensure QUT is listed as your first preference
-
Submit your QTAC application by the main round deadlines (Dec 2025 or Jan 2026)
All eligible students will be automatically assessed based on QTAC data and Year 12 results. No further action is needed unless contacted.
