Monash Humanitarian Scholarship 2026

The Monash Humanitarian Scholarship is a prestigious opportunity offered by Monash University, Australia, aimed at empowering high-achieving asylum seekers and students on eligible humanitarian or bridging visas to pursue undergraduate studies. This scholarship is supported through the Achieving Potential Fund, made possible by generous Monash alumni and partners who are committed to helping students experiencing hardship transform their future through education.

This opportunity provides full international student tuition funding for any Monash undergraduate degree, alongside an annual living allowance, ensuring scholars can focus on achieving academic excellence.

Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship type: Full international student tuition fee cover
  • Stipend value: $6,000 per year (48 credit points of study) paid as a yearly allowance until the minimum credit points for the degree are completed
  • Other supports: Funded through the Achieving Potential Fund; scholars may be invited to submit annual progress updates
  • Health insurance: Covered as part of international student fee support
  • Study Level: Undergraduate degree (Monash University) OR Monash University Foundation Year / Monash College Diploma
  • Study Course: Open to all study areas
  • Citizen type: International student on eligible humanitarian or bridging visas
  • Number of positions: Variable (depending on funding)
  • Total scholarship value: Full tuition + up to $30,000 allowance over the program duration
  • Deadline:
    • VTAC applications follow the VTAC Equity SEAS timeline (August–October)
    • Non-VTAC applications for Round 2 close 31 January 2026 at 5pm

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be:

Citizenship / Visa Requirements (Must meet one of the following):

  • Temporary Humanitarian Stay visa (Subclass 449)
  • Temporary Protection visa (Subclass 785)
  • Temporary Humanitarian Concern visa (Subclass 786)
  • Safe Haven Enterprise visa (Subclass 790)
  • Bridging visa A (Subclass 010)
  • Bridging visa E (Subclass 050 or 051), inactive visas included
  • AND must have applied for a Permanent Protection visa.

Academic Requirements:

  • Achieved a minimum ATAR of 70.00, OR
  • A minimum WAM of 60 for current students, OR
  • Equivalent academic achievement.

Course Requirements:

You must be:

  • A commencing or continuing international student enrolled or intending to enrol in:
    • an undergraduate degree at any Monash University campus in Australia, OR
    • Monash University Foundation Year or Monash Diploma (Monash College).

Eligible Countries:

All nationalities (as long as visa conditions above are met).

Eligible Course or Study Program:

Any undergraduate program of your choice.

Selection Criteria 

Selection for this scholarship is based on academic merit, including:

  • Results from your previous study program (ATAR, WAM or equivalent)
  • Evidence of academic potential
  • Achievements that demonstrate high performance in your studies
  • Commitment to completing a Monash undergraduate degree

To retain this scholarship:

  • Maintain a pass average (50% or above) each semester
  • If your residency changes after your first semester, you may keep receiving the allowance but tuition support may change depending on your fee status
  • You may be asked to submit an annual progress report for donors

How to Apply

VTAC Applicants


If you apply through the VTAC Equity Scheme (SEAS) between:
Monday 4 August (9am) – Friday 10 October (5pm)
you will be automatically considered, provided you:

  • meet the scholarship eligibility requirements
  • list at least one Monash course among your VTAC preferences
Non-VTAC Applicants & Current Monash Students
If you are a continuing student or applying directly to Monash:
  • Complete the separate Humanitarian Scholarship application form via the Monash scholarship portal
  • Round 2 closes: 5pm, Wednesday 31 January 2026
  • You must have received a Semester 1 2026 course offer OR already be enrolled by Thursday 11 December 2025

This scholarship cannot be deferred
