The Earmarked scholarships are Australian government sponsored scholarships in the University of Queensland to support Higher Degree by research projects that align with recently awarded Category 1 research grants. The scholarships are open all year both for eligible international and local students interested to undertake research degree in the University of Queensland.

The scholarship targets students with excellent research potentials and capacity to undertake research in all any area of choice chosen from available projects across the University. The scholarship provides full tuition supports and other financial benefits to the successful applicants.

Eligibility criteria for Earmarked Scholarships

To be eligible for these scholarships, interested applicants must attained the following conditions:

• Must meet the minimum entry requirements for a PhD degree program in the University of Queensland
• Should be international student or Australian citizen, permanent resident. 

About available projects

As already mentioned, these are project based scholarships. To receive this scholarship, applicant must select an existing project. How to find these projects?

2. View the latest commencement date and ensure you can meet the timeframes (apply at least 12 weeks prior).

Application for this scholarship is done when you are submitting your candidature for a PhD degree at the University of Queensland. There is no separation application for admissions and scholarship.

1. Choose a project to apply for and contact the project supervisor to discuss your interest. 
2. Review your eligibility.
3. Prepare your documentation.
4. Complete the PhD program application process. 
5. In your application, under the 'Scholarship and Collaborative study' section:

• Select ‘My higher degree is not collaborative’.
• Select 'I am applying for, or have been awarded a scholarship or sponsorship'.
• Select the UQ Earmarked Scholarship type.
