Project title: Evaluation of A Time-Efficient School-Based Physical
Activity Intervention for Older Adolescents Living with Disability
Summary of the project: This scholarship is being funded by
the Medical Research Future Fund. The main focus of the project is on the
effectiveness of a time-efficient school-based physical activity
intervention for older adolescents living with disability. The project
involves partnerships with the NSW Department of Education and Special
Olympics Australia
As a PhD research candidate interested in this research opportunity, you
will work under the guidance of a supervisory team, comprised of
international leaders in school-based physical activity promotion. The
Primary supervisor for this project is Professor David Lubans.
As a PhD candidate interested in this project, your role will be to:

undertake a systematic review of the literature,
-
contribute to the development of the intervention,
-
assist in the collection of implementation and outcome data,
-
conduct data analyses, and
-
lead research manuscripts commensurate with the requirements of a thesis
by publication.

Eligibility criteria
Candidates with the relevant backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.
The followings include some of the eligible backgrounds:
-
undergraduate or postgraduate degree (including education, health,
sport science, social and behavioural sciences) with a particular
interest in special education, physical education and health promotion
are encouraged to apply. While completion of an Honours level
undergraduate is advantageous, it is not essential. Students in their
final year of study are eligible to apply.
Criteria for scholarship selection
This is a merit-based scholarships and successful recipients will be
selected based on the following criteria:

A strong academic/research track record with; an undergraduate grade
point average equal to or greater than 5.25;
-
OR a first or 2A class honours degree (or equivalent); OR a Masters
degree with 25% research training minimum;
-
Excellent organisational, time management, written and verbal
communication skills;
-
The ability to work both independently and in a team
environment;
-
Demonstrated ability to write reports or peer-reviewed
manuscripts

required to meet the minimum
