About the PhD scholarship opportunity
The University of Newcastle is currently offering a number of fully
funded PhD scholarship positions for both national and international
students undertake research in various fields across the University. There are numerous funded research projects to apply for. These scholarships are intended to support students with exceptional research
potentials to study in Australia. The scholarships also comes along with a

The Project: Estimating the Topology of Low-Dimensional Data Using
Deep Neural Networks
Project Summary: This project is seeking for outstanding PhD
candidates that can be part of a small team of researchers who will utilise
concepts and techniques from computational topology, visualisation and deep
neural networks.
Your role as a PhD candidate will be:

One major component of the research task for you will be the
generation of simulated data.

A second major component will be the design and training of deep neural
networks where existing libraries can be combined with new
implementations. Training opportunities are equally available.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, interested applicants with the
following backgrounds will be prioritized :

A background and interest in relevant areas of computing or

mathematics and related disciplines

to study at the University of Newcastle. The University of Newcastle
