The Pathways Access Scholarship, funded by the Department of Education’s Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Programme (HEPPP), aims to support Australians from low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds to pursue higher education opportunities. This scholarship is specifically open to students who have completed a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification immediately before beginning a full-time undergraduate degree at Swinburne University of Technology in 2025.

Value: $5,000 per year (paid bi-annually) for up to 3 years, or a one-off payment of $500

Study Level: Undergraduate

Study Course: Any undergraduate course offered by Swinburne University of Technology

Citizen Type: Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or holders of permanent humanitarian visas

Number of Positions: Not specified

Duration: Up to 3 years

Deadline: 31 March 2025

Eligibility Criteria 

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship/Residency Status:

    • Australian citizen
    • Australian permanent resident
    • Holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
  • Enrollment Criteria:

    • Enrolled full-time in an eligible undergraduate course at Swinburne University of Technology in Semester 1, 2025
    • Completion of a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification immediately before beginning the undergraduate degree in 2024. Eligible qualifications include:
      • Certificate I-IV
      • Diploma
      • Advanced Diploma
      • UniLink Diploma
  • Hardship Evidence: Applicants must provide evidence of financial and/or personal hardship, such as:

    • Centrelink statements
    • Health Care Card
    • Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Payment Summary
  • Personal Statement: Submit a 500-word personal statement detailing personal and/or financial challenges experienced.

Selection Criteria 

Selection is based on:

  • Evidence of financial and/or personal hardship
  • Merit of the personal statement provided
  • Meeting all eligibility criteria
