The College of Business, Government, and Law at Flinders University is offering PhD Top Up Scholarships to support high-achieving domestic and international PhD students who hold a university, government, or non-government Higher Degree by Research (HDR) scholarship. This scholarship aims to enhance research potential and provide additional financial support for PhD students in business, criminology, government, or law.

This opportunity is open to newly enrolled and current PhD students at Flinders University who meet the eligibility requirements. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and research potential and is intended to complement an existing primary scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a full-time PhD student at the College of Business, Government, and Law at Flinders University
• Be either:
  • A newly enrolled PhD student (commencing in the current year)
  • A domestic student (Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen)
  • An international student
• Hold a primary HDR scholarship, such as:
  • For domestic students: Australian Research Training Program (RTP) or Flinders University Research Scholarship (FURS)
  • For international students: Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) or an equivalent scholarship that includes Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
• Demonstrate academic merit and research potential

Selection Criteria 

The selection is merit-based and will consider the following factors:

• Academic achievements in previous studies (e.g., grades, ranking, research output)
• Research potential in the selected field (e.g., published papers, conference presentations, research experience)
• Relevance of the research topic to business, criminology, government, or law
• Strong recommendations from referees (previous academic supervisors or professionals in the field)
