University of Melbourne Law School Visiting Fellowship 2026
The University of Melbourne, through the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness, is offering a prestigious funded Visiting Fellowship Scheme to support global scholars, researchers, educators, practitioners, and professionals working on issues related to statelessness.The fellowship provides an opportunity to collaborate directly with the Centre, share your work, and contribute to the growing field of statelessness research and advocacy. Fellows will participate in academic activities, share findings, and integrate into the Centre’s research community in Melbourne, Australia.
This opportunity is open to international applicants from all nationalities, including individuals with lived experience of statelessness.
Fellowship Overview
- Fellowship type: Funded Research Visit
- Stipend value: Up to AUD $6,000 for international travel and accommodation
- Other supports:
Dedicated workspace
- University library and computer access
- Participation in Centre events and academic collaborations
- Opportunity to present research through a public seminar or work-in-progress session
- Blog post submission to the Critical Statelessness Studies platform (if applicable)
- Study Level: Fellowship (Non-degree)
- Study Course: Law and Statelessness-related research
- Citizen type: International and Domestic
- Number of positions: One funded fellowship available; self-funded positions accepted year-round
- Fellowship duration: Between July and November 2026
- Deadline: 30 November 2025 (for funded fellowship applications)
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this fellowship, applicants are expected to:

Demonstrate proven engagement with statelessness research or advocacy

Show willingness to collaborate with Centre staff and contribute to the research culture

Commit to participating in seminars and producing a public work-in-progress presentation

Submit a complete application by the specified deadline

International applicants must independently secure visa and health insurance
