Flinders University Destination Australia Scholarships 2025–2026

The Destination Australia Scholarships are part of a major Australian Government initiative designed to attract high-achieving domestic and international students to study in regional Australia. Through this program, students are supported financially while gaining access to world-class education, rich cultural experiences, and opportunities to engage with diverse regional communities.

This particular opportunity is hosted by Flinders University, specifically supporting eligible students studying approved programs at approved regional campuses. See application guidance at the end of this post

 Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship type: Funded scholarship
  • Scholarship value: $15,000 total
  • Payment term: Paid in two instalments annually after census date each semester
  • Study Level: Undergraduate
  • Study Course: Approved courses (currently Bachelor of Nursing – Riverland)
  • Citizen type: Domestic and International Students
  • Number of positions: One (1)
  • Duration: One year
  • Deadline: 13 March 2026

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be commencing an approved degree at an approved regional campus of Flinders University

  • Maintain ongoing residency in a regional area as defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2016 Remoteness Structure)

  • Be enrolled full-time

Additional Criteria for Domestic Students (Australian/NZ Citizens, PR, Humanitarian Visa Holders):
They must also belong to at least one of the following equity groups:

  • First Nations People

  • Students from low socio-economic backgrounds

  • First in family to attend university

  • Students living with a disability

Approved Courses and Campuses:

  • Bachelor of Nursing (Riverland)

Eligible Countries: All nationalities (Domestic & International)

Selection will be strictly based on academic merit, with assessment considering:

  • Academic achievements from previous studies

  • Demonstrated commitment to study in regional Australia

  • Eligibility under specified equity groups (for domestic students)

  • Strength of application documentation

  • Apply and receive an offer to study an approved Flinders University regional program
  • Ensure you meet the residency and enrollment requirements
  • Prepare your supporting documents (academic records, proof of eligibility, personal statement if required)
  • Submit your scholarship application through the Flinders University Scholarship Portal before the deadline
  • Await assessment and outcome notification
