ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship (170 offers for 2022)

This is a generous scholarship opportunity to study at the Australia National University. This scholarship opportunity is open to all international students seeking to study at ANU for the year 2022-2023. The scholarships are open in any field of choice. It's equally open to all study levels ie: Undergraduate, and postgraduate. The details for the various scholarship categories b and the number of awards per category are provided in the next few paragraphs. The category is furtherly subdivided into various major regions concerned (Africa, Middle East, Asia). 

(Note that applications for coursework degree programs are less complex than research degree programs to an extend. Find out the difference between research degree scholarship applications and coursework degree programs.)

ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship overview

The ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship scholarship is open to approximately 170 international students to study  Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree programs across ANU in any field of their choice or Degree Program. (Except Doctor Of Medicine and Surgery (MChD) Master Of Military and Defence Studies)
  • Study area/field: Any 
  • Scholarship category: Undergraduate/Postgraduate
  • Scholarship Value: up to 25% or 50% fee waiver of tuition for the entire study period. 3 years for Undergraduate and 2 years for Postgraduate. 
  • Application Deadline:15 May 2022
As a recipient of the ANU Chancellor's International Scholarship, applicants are allowed to pay a reduced tuition deposit of AUD 10,000 instead of the standard deposit amount listed on their admissions offer letter.

 The Australian National University (ANU) will offer up to 170 awards known as the ANU Chancellor's International Scholarship to outstanding international students to enrol in undergraduate and master's coursework programs offered by the University. This scholarship is only available for those who intend to commence their studies in 2022 in an eligible program (excluded programs are listed above)These awards are distributed into 7 categories, with different numbers of awards and scholarship values per group. Scholarship Eligibility 

Before applying for any scholarship, always check out the eligibility criteria. Only start the application process if you meet the entry requirements.  The ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship  award is open to a prospective ANU applicant who: 

  1.  Is an international student, either currently residing inside or outside Australia;
  2. has received an offer of admission for an eligible program (except the excluded ones mentioned above) to commence in 2022;
  3. meets the conditions of the program for which they have received an offer of admission including the requirement to be onshore for some components (if applicable);
  4.  has not received the scholarship previously.
  5. (For region-specific Awards) is a citizen of a country in the regions defined below: 
  • South Asia: Bangladesh; Bhutan; Maldives; India; Nepal; Pakistan; Sri Lanka. 
  • South-East Asia: Brunei; Cambodia; Indonesia; Laos; Malaysia; Myanmar; Philippines; Singapore; Thailand; Timor-Leste; Vietnam. 
  •  Middle East & Africa: Any country of Africa; Bahrain; Iraq; Iran; Israel; Jordan; Kuwait; Lebanon; Oman; Palestine; Qatar; Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Syria; United Arab Emirates; Yemen; Turkey.

ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship Selection criteria

Selection for this scholarship will be made on the basis of :

  • an applicant meeting the eligibility criteria and academic merit. Qualifications submitted for admission at ANU will be converted to the common scale which will determine an applicant's place on the merit list. Eligible applicants with multiple qualifications will be ranked according to the qualification used as the basis of admission.  
  • Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 7.0 scale will be used for eligible postgraduate applicants. ATAR equivalent will be used for eligible undergraduate applicants.

How to apply for this scholarship

There is no separate application process for admissions and scholarships, applicants are automatically considered if they meeting the eligibility criteria for the program they submitted an application for admissions.

The applicants will be informed of their scholarship award on the day that they receive their offer to ANU.
