About English Language Course Scholarships-The University of Western Australia

The English Language Course Scholarships at the University of Western Australia is a 10 week pre-course English Language program sponsored by the university to support international students who have been offered a PhD place at the University of Western Australia but didn't meet the University English entry requirement. The University of Western Australia English Language Bridging Scholarship pays for the Academic English and Study Skills Bridging Course (Module 2) offered by the UWA Centre for English Language Teaching (UWA CELT).

Scholarship Overview

What is covered under this scholarship :

This scholarship will cover the full cost of the 10 week bridging course that is enrolment fee, tuition fee and course texts

Recipients are eligible to weekly stipends. A stipend of AUD $450/week is paid to recipients for the length of the Bridging Course. This is paid as a contribution towards living expenses.

At the completion of the course, recipients are entitled to receive a further two weeks stipend of $450 per week, or if preferred, an equivalence of a return flight home before the commencement of the the PhD program

Eligibility criteria for this scholarship

To be eligible for this University of Western Australia English Language Bridging Scholarship, the applicant is expected to have :

accepted a PhD place at UWA;
IELTS: score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each band;
TOEFL iBT: 70 with a minimum score of 20 in the writing section, 19 in the speaking section, 17 in the listening section and 14 in the reading section (for other suitable entry options see www.celt.uwa.edu.au/courses/pathways).
