About Wine Australia PhD and Masters by Research Scholarships 2022

Wine Australia is currently offering multiple Masters and PhD scholarships to help attract postgraduate students to the fields of wine, viticulture and wine business research. The scholarship is open to any eligible applicant to undertake Masters or PhD research degree in Australia. The scholarship will offer  supplementary scholarships for up to three years full-time PhD study and for up to two years full-time Master by Research.

Wine Australia is the single Australian Government statutory service body for the Australian grape and wine community. By by investing in research and development, building the international and domestic markets, disseminating knowledge, encouraging adoption and protecting the reputation of Australian wine. Wine Australia aims to support a prosperous Australian grape and wine sector. Each year, wine Australia offers Masters/ PhD scholarships to eligible outstanding students to support  research  in the wine industry.

Eligibility criteria and selection procedure for Wine Australia scholarships

To be eligible for Wine Australia's scholarships, interested applicants  must:
  1. be enrolled in or have applied for, a Master of Research or PhD program at an Australian or overseas university, and
  2. hold, or have applied for, an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP)Stipend Scholarship or another equivalent stipend scholarship through their host university.

Wine Australia scholarships are awarded on merit-based. The scholarships will be be awarded to successful recipients based on the following criteria:
  • academic excellence
  • the quality of an applicant’s Curriculum Vitae
  • the merit of the proposed research program
  • the expertise of the proposed supervisor(s)
  • the likelihood of the student’s ongoing involvement in the wine sector, and
  • funding availability

How to apply for  Wine Australia scholarships

To apply for Wine Australia scholarship, interested applicants are expected to complete an application online through the Clarity Investment Management System (CIMS).
To create a log in and apply, applicants should send an email to Wine Australia at Email: applications@wineaustralia.com, with their full name, address, contact phone number and name of University they will be attending.

Applicants must show evidence that the University support  the proposed project, availability of a supervisor.

The following documents must be provided during application through the Clarity Investment Management System (CIMS)
  • one (1) certified copy of your Undergraduate Academic Transcript
  • one (1) certified copy of your Postgraduate Academic Transcript (if any postgraduate study undertaken, excluding the PhD or Masters degree you are currently enrolled in and for which you are seeking support)
  • one (1) copy of your current Curriculum Vitae, and
  • one (1) signed copy of your supervisor’s confirmation of support (or university’s if supervisor isnot in place).
