  About the positions Western Sydney International Scholarships – Undergraduate 2025 This scholarship opportunity is offered by Western Sydney University to support exceptional international students in pursuing undergraduate studies. The scholarship is designed to attract high-achieving students from around the world to study in Australia and aims to reduce the financial burden of tuition fees for those commencing a new course of study in 2025. University of Wollongong International students - HDR scholarships

Several fully funded Masters and PhD scholarships are available at the University of Wollongong. The University of Wollongong offers a range of postgraduate research scholarships to eligible international students to undertake Masters research and PhD degree programs within multiple fields of study.

Three types of postgraduate research scholarships are available at the University of Wollongong. These include The University Postgraduate Award (UPA), the International Postgraduate Tuition Awards (IPTAs) and University faculty-specific scholarships. UPA and IPTAs are open within any field of study across the University while college-specific scholarships are open within specific fields of study. The University of Wollongong has no application fees for its Research Degree Programs. These research scholarships include annual stipends, living allowances and tuition fee covers. 

Application for the first round closed on 27 February 2024.  Applications for the second round are now open. Deadline: 27 July 2024

  • 1) The University Postgraduate Award (UPA)

The UPAs are fully funded postgraduate research scholarships open within any field of choice at the University of Wollongong. The scholarships are open for all eligible international students to undertake master's or research degree at this institution

UPA scholarship overview:

  • Scholarship type: Full tuition fee cover
  • Degree Program: Masters/ PhD by research
  • Field of study:  Open to any field across the University
  • Number of awards: Multiple
  • Location:  University of Wollongong Australia
  • Citizen type: International students/ All countries eligible
  • Award Duration: up to 3 years for PhD degree and 2 years for Master's.
  • Application opens: Currently open

  • 2) the International Postgraduate Tuition Awards(IPTA)

IPTAs scholarships are equally open for multiple Masters and PhD scholarship positions across several fields in the University. IPTAs) are awarded to cover HDR students' tuition fees in certain circumstances. IPTAs can be offered in three different circumstances either as :
Full Course IPTA;
Final Session IPTA; and
Financial Hardship IPTA.

  • Number of awards: Multiple

  • Application Deadline:  Autumn Session: 27 February, Spring Session: 27 July 2024

Eligibility criteria for IPTA scholarships

To be eligible to apply for an IPTA, a student must:
  • a. Be an international student undertaking a doctoral or MPhil degree at UOW;
  • b. Meet international student visa requirements as specified by the DIBP;
  • c. Not be receiving a scholarship under any other scheme for which course tuition is a component.

Other scholarships include the Faculty specific scholarships

Several other scholarships are available at the university for international students via the Faculty-Specific-Scholarship program. This includes the Faculty of the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities scholarship in Agroforestry and Effective Biosecurity, Faculty of Engineering & Information Sciences scholarship in Machine Learning and Deep Learning of Sensed Data for Classroom Activity Understanding, the School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering/School of Computing and Information Technology
