Flinders University Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (AGRTPS) 2025
This prestigious scholarship is offered by Flinders University in collaboration with the Australian Government to support outstanding international students undertaking a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) in Australia. The aim is to attract top-quality research candidates to the university's priority research areas, fostering innovation and global academic excellence.

Scholarship Overview
- Scholarship type: International tuition fee offset (tuition-free RTP place)
- Stipend value: Living allowance of $35,010 per year (2025 rate), tax-free, paid fortnightly
- Other supports: Establishment allowance up to $1,485 (upon relocation from overseas, with receipts)
- Health insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) provided
- Study Level: PhD by Research
- Study Course: Available in research areas of strategic concentration at Flinders University
- Citizen type: International students only (excluding New Zealand citizens)
- Number of positions: Up to 6

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

Be a citizen of any country other than Australia or New Zealand, and not hold Australian permanent residency or citizenship

Be commencing full-time HDR studies in Australia for the first time in 2025

Apply to study in an area of research concentration at Flinders University

Meet all entry and English proficiency requirements for HDR candidature at the time of application

Have informal agreement from a suitable Flinders academic supervisor (documented via email)

Submit a complete application with all supporting documentation, including publications and academic references
Selection Criteria
Selection is merit-based and considers:

Academic excellence and research potential

Research training and background

Research outputs: Up to five publications (each with cover sheets, no more than 5 years old, preferably in English)

Research proposal quality and feasibility (approx. 500 words)

Relevance of proposed research to the university’s priority areas

Strong references from academic referees
The top applicants typically submit up to five competitive publications and demonstrate strong alignment with Flinders’ research strengths.

International applicants must first apply for admission to a Higher Degree by Research via Studylink.

Complete your registration at: Studylink Portal

After registration, note your Flinders student ID (generated within 1 hour)
Step 2: Apply for Scholarship

Activate your account using the student ID and date of birth: Account Activation

Log in to your OKTA dashboard

Navigate to Student System > My Scholarship tab > Create a new scholarship application

Select 2025 > International RHD Scholarship Group

Upload all required documents (see checklist below)
