AINSE Australia Residential Student Scholarship 2025 (RSS)

The Residential Student Scholarship (RSS) is sponsored by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) to provide financial and research support to PhD students. The scholarship supports students enrolled in AINSE Member Universities who require long-term access to ANSTO’s state-of-the-art facilities for their research projects.

This opportunity allows candidates to immerse themselves in cutting-edge nuclear science and technology research while benefiting from ANSTO’s expertise and resources. The scholarship is aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration among researchers in Australia.

Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship Type: Partial financial support
  • Stipend Value: Up to AUD 9,000 per annum
  • Travel Allowance: Up to AUD 5,000 for travel and accommodation expenses related to the research
  • Study Level: PhD
  • Citizen Type: Domestic and international students enrolled in AINSE Member Universities
  • Study Course: Open to all research fields requiring ANSTO facility access
  • Number of Positions: Limited
  • Duration: Minimum 6 months per year access to ANSTO facilities

Eligibility Criteria 

To qualify for the RSS, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a PhD program at an AINSE Member University.
  • Be recipients of a Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship or equivalent funding.
  • Require access to ANSTO facilities for at least six months per year for their research.

Selection Criteria

The selection for the RSS will consider:

  • Alignment of the research project with ANSTO’s capabilities and facilities.
  • The quality and significance of the research proposal.
  • Academic excellence and research potential demonstrated in previous studies.
  • Recommendations from academic supervisors or referees.
