Fully Funded UnisQ International Stipend and Fee Research Scholarship (DPHD) 2025 

This fully-funded research scholarship is sponsored by the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) to support high-achieving international students commencing or continuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2025.

The opportunity is open to international students from all around the world who wish to pursue a higher degree by research aligned with UniSQ’s flagship research areas. Applicants are encouraged to consult potential supervisors and align their proposed research with UniSQ's strengths, which include opportunities for industry engagement and support for underrepresented groups such as women in STEMM and students with disabilities.

Applications are competitive and assessed based on academic excellence, research potential, project alignment, and the capacity of the supervisory team. Students may also apply for an industry internship stream involving a 60-day internship supported by an industry partner.

  • Stipend value: AUD $37,000 per annum (tax-free)

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours or equivalent;

  • Be eligible for full-time, on-campus PhD enrolment at UniSQ;

  • Be an international student (not an Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent resident);

  • Be commencing or continuing PhD studies in 2025.

Applicants will be selected based on the following:

  1. Academic Achievement

    • Honours class or postgraduate academic performance

    • Academic awards and distinctions

  2. Research Capability

    • Publications, conference presentations, creative works

    • Research internships or experience

  3. Research Project and Environment

    • Alignment with UniSQ research priorities

    • Research relevance and potential impact

    • External partnerships or support

  4. Supervisory Team Strength

    • Supervisor publication record

    • Supervisory capacity and support

    • Complementary expertise of the supervisory team

How to Apply

Applicants must prepare and upload the following documents via the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System:

  • Supervisor support letter

  • Curriculum Vitae (with research outputs)

  • Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal

  • Citizenship documentation

  • Statement of Claim addressing the selection criteria

  • Academic transcripts and certificates for all completed qualifications

If applying for the Industry Stream, applicants must also provide:

  • Letter of Support from the industry partner

  • Proof of meeting the timeline criteria (within 18 months of full-time or 36 months of part-time PhD commencement as of December 2024)
