ACU Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship

 ​The Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship provides financial support to both domestic and international students undertaking a Research Doctorate or Research Masters degree at eligible Australian universities. This initiative aims to support high-achieving students in pursuing advanced research degrees across various disciplines.​

 Scholarship Overview

• Scholarship Type: Partial tuition fee cover​

• Stipend Value: Living allowance of $33,637 per annum (2024 full-time study rate), paid fortnightly. The stipend is indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave.

• Other Supports:

  • Relocation allowance for students moving to commence their research program. ​

  • Thesis allowance upon submission of the thesis. ​

• Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international students. ​

• Study Level: Masters by Research / PhD​

• Study Course: Open to all study areas​

• Citizen Type: Domestic and International students​

• Number of Positions: Varies by institution​

• Duration: Up to 2 years for a Masters by Research degree and up to 3.5 years for a PhD. 

• Deadline: Application deadlines vary by institution; applicants should check with their chosen university for specific dates.​

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants are expected to:

• Be enrolled in an accredited research higher degree at an eligible Australian university.​

• Not be receiving income from another source to support general living costs that exceeds 75% of the RTP Stipend rate. ​

Eligible Countries: All nationalities are eligible for this scholarship.​

Eligible Course or Study Program: Any program of your choice.​

Selection Criteria 

The selection criteria for this scholarship are merit-based and consider factors such as:

• Academic achievements from previous study programs (e.g., scores, ranks).​

• Research potential in the chosen field of study.​

• Relevance of the chosen program to previously studied programs.​

• Relevant professional experiences.​

• Recommendations from previous referees.​

• Research skills demonstrated through publications, if any.
