Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship 2026

This scholarship opportunity is sponsored by the University of Sydney to attract and support exceptional international students from diverse backgrounds and regions to study across a broad range of undergraduate programs.

The opportunity is open to international students who have applied for but not yet commenced a single undergraduate coursework degree (including embedded honours) at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is highly competitive and focuses on academic excellence and course/nationality diversity.

 Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship type: Full tuition fee cover
  • Stipend value: 100% tuition fees and Student Services Amenities Fee (SSAF)
  • Health insurance: Not covered (recipients are responsible for OSHC and other costs)
  • Study Level: Undergraduate (including embedded honours)
  • Study Course: Open to eligible single undergraduate coursework degrees (excluding dual degrees and degrees with postgraduate components)
  • Citizen type: International students only
  • Number of positions: Approximately 20 globally per year
  • Duration: Up to 4 years full-time
  • Deadline: Ongoing; applications for 2026 are now open.

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be an international student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (not an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or dual citizen with Australian nationality)

  • Have applied for but not yet commenced a single undergraduate coursework degree (up to 4 years, including embedded honours)

  • Be enrolling full-time in an eligible undergraduate program

  • Not be commencing a second degree at the University of Sydney

  • Have completed secondary school (or an approved foundation program)

  • Not have previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies during Year 12)

Eligible countries: All nationalities
Eligible course or study program: Any eligible single undergraduate coursework degree (see exclusions below)

Exclusions include:

  • Combined degrees with a postgraduate component

  • Bachelor of Arts (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France)

  • Bachelor of Economics (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France)

  • Degrees that include the Bachelor of Advanced Studies

Selection Criteria 

Scholarship selection is highly competitive and merit-based. Selection is primarily based on:

  • Outstanding academic achievement in high school or foundation programs

  • The diversity of the applicant’s nationality and chosen program

  • Potential to contribute to the University of Sydney’s diverse student body

  • No formal application is required beyond applying for an eligible course; however, only successful applicants will be contacted

  1. Apply for an eligible single undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney.

  2. You will automatically be considered for the scholarship if your course is eligible.

  3. No separate scholarship application is required.

  4. Successful applicants will be contacted within 5 weeks of submitting their course application.
