Notre Dame Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships 2026
The University of Notre Dame Australia, in partnership with the Australian Government, is offering the prestigious Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships to support outstanding domestic and international students in pursuing a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) either a Master’s or PhD.This scholarship aims to alleviate the financial burden of tuition and living expenses, empowering students to engage in transformative research aligned with the University’s vision and research priorities. Applicants are selected competitively based on academic merit, research potential, and alignment with strategic research themes.
Scholarship Overview

Scholarship Type: Tuition Fee Offset and/or Stipend Support

Stipend Value: $36,862 per annum (2025 rate, tax-free), paid fortnightly to support general living costs

Relocation costs to commence research at Notre Dame

Thesis printing or publication costs

Standard Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international students

Health Insurance: OSHC for international students (if applicable)

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

Meet admission requirements for an HDR program at the University of Notre Dame
-
Be either:
-
A domestic student, automatically assessed for RTP fee offset (no separate application needed)
-
An international student, eligible to apply competitively for a fee offset and/or stipend
-

Demonstrate strong academic performance and research capability
-
Submit a complete Expression of Interest (EoI) and be invited to apply for admission (if a prospective student)
Eligible Countries: All nationalities
Eligible Study Program: Any HDR program offered at the University of Notre Dame
Selection Criteria
Scholarships are awarded through a competitive process based on the following:

Academic performance in previous study
-
Evidence of research capability (e.g., publications, thesis work)
-
Relevant professional experience
-
Quality and feasibility of the research project proposal
-
Alignment of the research topic with the University Research Plan and Transformative Research Themes

Strength and experience of the proposed supervisory team
-
Availability of supervisory expertise and capacity

How to Apply
Prospective Students:

Indicate “Yes” to “Are you interested in applying for a scholarship?” in the Expression of Interest (EoI) form

Submit your EoI and, upon invitation, complete and lodge the application for admission and scholarship before 4 August 2025
Current Students:
-
Complete and submit the appropriate RTP Application Form (Domestic or International)

Attach your most recent progress review or confirmation of candidature
-
If supporting documents cannot be attached, provide reasons in the application
-
Submit all documents to the Research Office before the deadline
