PhD Scholarship in Quantum Technology | ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T)

Applications are now open for a fully funded PhD scholarship in Quantum Technology at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T), hosted at RMIT University, Australia.

This prestigious scholarship provides an exceptional opportunity for highly talented candidates to conduct cutting-edge research in the rapidly advancing field of quantum computation and communication.

Successful candidates will join a world-class research team and contribute to the design, development, and measurement of multi-qubit devices, while mastering a wide range of experimental techniques including single-atom manipulation, device processing, and optical measurements at cryogenic temperatures.

  • Scholarship type: Full tuition fee cove

  • Stipend value: AUD $31,000 per annum for three (3) years (full-time)

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Demonstrate exceptional aptitude for advanced physics

  • Hold a first-class Honours degree or a Master’s degree in an area of physics related to quantum technology (a Master’s degree is preferred)

  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a recent research supervisor

  • Be eligible for permission to study and travel to Australia (with current travel restrictions in place, Australian citizens and permanent residents may have an advantage in meeting this requirement)

  • Meet RMIT University’s PhD entry requirements for international or domestic students

Selection Criteria 

Selection will be based on merit and demonstrated research potential, including but not limited to:

  • Academic excellence (scores, rankings, honours or master's performance)

  • Research potential and interest in quantum technology

  • Relevance of previous studies to the proposed PhD project

  • Relevant professional or laboratory experience

  • Strength of recommendation letter(s) from academic referees

  • Demonstrated research skills through publications or conference presentations (if any)
