About the position:

ARC Grant-Funded PhD Scholarship - Development of advanced actuation and sensing system for condition assessment of structures using nonlinear ultrasonic guided waves

Fully-funded PhD scholarship position in Development of advanced actuation and sensing system for condition assessment of structures using nonlinear ultrasonic guided waves available in the University of Adelaide. 

The ARC Grant-Funded PhD Scholarship is funded by an Australian Research Council Discovery Project. The scholarship aims to support a full-time PhD student undertaking research in Structural Health Monitoring and Nondestructive Evaluation research area with a focus on developing advanced actuation and sensing systems for condition assessment of structures using ultrasonic waves.

This fully-funded position is available for three years and with a possible 6-month extension. The scholarship is open to both eligible international and domestic students with strong research interests in the above-mentioned study area. The scholarship is available to study within the :

  • School of Civil Environmental and Mining Engineering
  • School of Mechanical Engineering
  • School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Eligibility criteria

The scholarship is open for both domestic and international students who meet the minimum entry requirements to study at Adelaide University. Below are some of the eligibility criteria for this scholarship. The interested applicant must: 
  1. Have completed a relevant Bachelor degree with First Class Honours, or a Masters degree that contains a significant (and relevant) research component with equivalent academic performance.  Students who hold a degree in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering will be considered favourably.
  2. Be interested in structural health monitoring, nondestructive evaluation and infrastructure monitoring.
  3. Applicants are expected to have a solid background in structural mechanics/dynamic/acoustic and numerical modelling of structures (e.g. finite element modelling)
