Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (FIPRS) 2025–2026
Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, offers the FIPRS to attract exceptional international students to undertake a higher degree by research (Master's or PhD). This scholarship aims to support students with outstanding academic records and research potential, providing them with the opportunity to contribute to the university's vibrant research community.
Scholarship Overview

Scholarship Type: Full tuition fee coverage for international students

Stipend Value: Living allowance of AUD $35,010 per annum (2024 rate), tax-exempt and indexed annually

Other Supports: Establishment allowance of up to AUD $1,485 to assist with relocation costs and airfares for students moving to Adelaide from overseas (receipts required)

Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the program

Study Level: Master's by Research or Doctorate by Research (PhD)

Study Course: Open to all research areas offered at Flinders University

Citizen Type: International students (excluding Australian and New Zealand citizens or permanent residents)

Number of Positions: Approximately 5 scholarships awarded annually

Duration: Up to 2 years for a Master's by Research degree and up to 3 years for a PhD, with the possibility of a 6-month extension for doctoral programs

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

Be a citizen of any country except Australia and New Zealand, and not hold Australian permanent residency

Intend to commence full-time study for a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time in the year for which the award is offered

Intend to enroll in an area of research concentration at Flinders University

Satisfy all entry requirements for a higher degree by research, including English language proficiency requirements

Not hold an equivalent research higher degree qualification
Selection Criteria
Selection is based on academic merit and research potential, considering factors such as:

Academic excellence in previous studies

Research training and experience, including the quality of the research proposal
-
Relevance of the proposed research to the university's areas of research concentration

Quality and relevance of publications (up to five, with coversheets)

Professional experience and achievements
-
Recommendations from academic referees
How to Apply

Find a Research Supervisor: Identify and obtain agreement from an academic staff member at Flinders University to supervise your research. Email evidence of the supervisor’s agreement should be included with your application.

Apply for Admission: Submit an application for admission to a higher degree by research (PhD or Master's by Research) at Flinders University via the Studylink portal:

Activate Your Account: After receiving your Flinders Student ID, activate your account to obtain your Flinders Authentication Name (FAN):

Apply for the Scholarship: Log in to the Flinders Student System using your FAN and submit your application for the International HDR Scholarship Group:

Select the "My Scholarship" tab

Click on "Create a new scholarship application"

Choose "2025" and select the "International RHD Scholarship Group"

Prepare Supporting Documents:

Academic transcripts (certified copies)

Research proposal (approximately 500 words)

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Up to five publications with coversheets

Two academic referee reports (submitted directly by referees to rhdscholarships@flinders.edu.au)
