Western Australian Premier's University Scholarship 2025-2026 At UWA

The Western Australian Premier's University Scholarship is a prestigious opportunity funded by the Government of Western Australia in partnership with The University of Western Australia (UWA).

This scholarship aims to attract exceptional international students from selected countries to undertake a postgraduate qualification at UWA, one of Australia’s leading research-intensive universities.

The award is designed to support highly talented students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements, leadership potential, and community engagement, while promoting Western Australia as a study destination.

Scholarship Overview

  • Scholarship type: Partial tuition fee scholarship

  • Scholarship value: AUD $50,000 applied directly towards tuition fees

  • Study Level: Postgraduate Coursework (Masters by Coursework only)

  • Study Course: Open to eligible postgraduate programs (minimum 2 years duration)

  • Citizen type: International students only

  • Number of positions: 1 per round (2 rounds annually)

  • Duration: Minimum of 2 years full-time study

  • Deadline: 14 November 2025

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have applied for and received an offer to study a postgraduate course at UWA as an onshore international student, undertaking full-time studies for a minimum of two years.

  • Be commencing studies onshore at UWA for Semester 1, 2026.

  • Have met the requirements to obtain an international student visa for study in Australia.

  • Not have previously commenced or completed studies in Western Australia, or be entering through a packaged, foundation, or English language pathway.

  • Be a citizen of one of the following eligible countries:

    • Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, China, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, The Philippines, The United Arab Emirates, The United Kingdom, Vietnam.

Note: Excluded courses include all 1-year Law programs, 1.5-year Arts courses, and Business/Science programs with 24-point admission credits (resulting in 1.5-year completion).

Selection Criteria 

Selection will be based on merit and consideration of the following:

  • Academic excellence in previous study programs (GPA, rank, awards).

  • Demonstrated leadership and community service involvement.

  • Evidence of recognition or awards in academics, community, or sports.

  • Strong potential for contribution to the UWA community and Western Australia.

  • A written personal statement (500–1000 words) outlining:

    • Why this scholarship would be beneficial, and

    • How obtaining a UWA postgraduate degree aligns with your future career and success.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for admission into an eligible postgraduate coursework program at UWA.

  2. Complete the Western Australian Premier's University Scholarship application form (opens 1 August 2025).

  3. Prepare and submit:

    • A personal statement (500–1000 words),

    • Evidence of community service, and

    • Proof of recognition/awards (academic, community, or sporting).

  4. Submit your application before the deadline of 14 November 2025.
